The Role

- Supervises the maintenance and repair of a wide range of machine tools and equipment in the workshop (including fabrication, machining and repair activities), the supervision of tool room and heavy lift equipment (crane, forklift, EOT cranes) under his control.
- Supervises the activities of assigned personnel in the Mechanical Workshop.
- Receives planned and emergency job requests from other Maintenance, Operations or Technical Services personnel to repair and test valves, PSVs, shafts, tube sheets, etc.
- Shall be able to prepare drawings and sketches which illustrate the modification and fabrication work.
- Reviews drawings and sketches for work, allocates assignments and provides technical guidance and instructions throughout duration of the job.
- Inspects completed work for conformity to requirements and arranges for the installation and testing of fabricated parts.
- Implements preventive maintenance schedules for machinery and power tools in the workshop and for equipment kept in the Tool room & other Heavy lift equipment. This includes determining frequency of maintenance based on historical data or OEM recommendations; preparing equipment check lists and keeping detailed equipment records and performance data, preparing daily or weekly schedules and raising job cards or work orders according to schedules.
- Monitors the requirements for raw materials, spare parts, equipment and consumables for the Workshop; follows up to ensure that sufficient raw materials, spare parts, tools, equipment and consumables are available to enable work to be carried out. Prepares requisitions for replenishment as necessary. Inspects materials prior to acceptance and participates in technical evaluation of materials ordered and received.
- Responsible for all machining welding, Fabrication activities in the workshop. Prepares equipment technical assembly data reports for machine tools such as lathe, milling, shaping machines, etc. & keeps records for future reference and maintains technical equipment files for proper follow-up and monitoring.
- Suggests and proposes to the Mechanical Head modifications to be carried out on related equipment to improve the performance and reliability.
- Candidate should be able to conduct tool box and safety talk for all the workshop activities and shall be familiar with risk assessment and safety procedures.
- Shall be capable of maximizing the workshop resources and machines to achieve maximum value return for the complex.

Requirements

- Degree in Mechanical/Production engineering from a reputed University.
- 10-15 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance of Mechanical equipment in Aromatics/Petrochemical/Oil and Gas industry.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in diversified metal crafts, including machine tooling, bench fitting, tool repair, welding and fabrication/ metal works with minimum 3 years experience as Workshop Manager/Superintendent/in- charge.
- Excellent knowledge of English & technical writing skills.
- Shall possess advanced knowledge and function capability for utilizing the workshop equipment and machinery.
- Knowledge and application of relevant international Codes and standards such as API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, UL, NFPA, etc.
