The Pernis site is one of the largest petrochemicals sites in Europe with over 550 hectares (incl. Europoort Terminal) of processing facilities. The site includes the largest refinery asset in Europe, > 400,000 bbls/day with high complexity -cracker, visbreakers, gasification, base oil -units. The site includes several chemical assets and on top of that the Pernis site is integrated with the Moerdijk Chemicals site and underpins significant trading activity.

This position is located in the Engineering and Assurance department and is of key importance to ensure the technical integrity of electrical (rotating) machines and static converters in service within the Shell Pernis production units.
The Engineering and Assurance department in Shell Pernis exercises strong Functional Leadership and is accountable for discipline performance. This includes accountability for integrity of project scope, inspection, maintenance and repair policies and turn around scope.
As a specialist electrical engineer you’ll provide specialist electrical technical support for engineering, maintenance, repair, inspection and reliability activities, plant changes and/or new projects, for (Ex) electrical machines (low and high voltage motors, variable speed drives, emergency power supplies and batteries, transformers, high voltage generators).
You will contribute to up-to-date master plans and asset strategies for mentioned electrical equipment, evaluate new systems and procedures, advise regarding applications and support introduction.
You will identify, share and apply best practices; contribute to performance monitoring and bench marking services.
This includes working with contractor staff and vendors, assessing performance, influencing them to achieve laid down standards.
You will develop and maintain successful working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The work requires frequent interaction with vendors, repair workshops, maintenance staff, Turn Around staff, reliability and rotating equipment engineers, and the contracting and procurement department.
In this position you will also act as a Senior Authorized Electrical Person available for call in duty.
The academic level of the Specialist Electrical Engineer should be BsC or HND, TH/HTS (or demonstrate an equivalent knowledge). You will have substantial relevant experience in electrical installations in the petro-chemical industry.
